The topic of the first part of thistraining is The HIPAA Rule. This Rule set national standards for the protection of individually identifiable health information by three types of covered entities: health plans, health care clearinghouses, and health care providers who conduct the standard health care transactions. This course provides you with additional information to assist you in learning more about the HIPAA Rule and understanding your roles and responsibilities as a researcher when you have access of patient’s/subject’s PHI.

The second part of today’s session is focused on research definitions and acronyms. These terms and acronyms are frequently utilized throughout the research arena and you should become familiar with them.
